Jennifer Garner, who was born and brought up within Charleston West Virginia, on April 17th, 1973 was born in Houston, Texas. William John Garner is her father. He was a chemical engineer at Union Carbide. Patricia Ann, her mother taught at a local college. To follow in the footsteps of her father, she graduated in chemical engineering. In order to pursue her dream of acting, she decided to move in New York and try her attempt at acting in Hollywood. Chefs were employed at an eatery in New York and was a part of Broadway productions. She appeared in a guest role on the tv show "Felicity." Garner had her breakthrough with her romantic comedic film "13 Goin' on 30" where she played the role of a teenage girl trapped within an adult's body. Garner selected Gary Winick as the director of the film. They continued searching for projects until Winick's death in the year 2011. Garner was named an artist ambassador in 2011 by Save the Children U.S.A. This position focuses on encouraging nutrition and literacy across the United States in addition to early elementary education. Garner was a member as the group's president since 2014, is an advocate for the cause of early education. She visits many families in Early Steps to School Success - a program designed for parents to learn how they can support their children's development - and act as an advocate.
